The Import Export code registration is mandatory for any individual or business engaged in importing and exporting of goods. In the absence of an IEC one cannot import or export.
The IEC is a 10-digit code issued by the Director General of Foreign Trade. Once issued it has permanent validity throughout India.
There is no need for any filing related to the transaction of goods imported or exported while using this IEC Code.
The application for the IEC will have to be done by filing the Aayaat Niryaat Form 2A (ANF 2A) to the regional authority of the Director general of Foreign trade in whose regional jurisdiction the registered office of the business is situated.
Procedure for Import Export code registration
Step 1- Once the application has been submitted, you will be getting the certificate in 3 business working days in the IEC portal
Step 2- Further the certificate will be received with all the verification in the Government Side mail will be sent to you.
Step 3- PAN Number will be your IEC number after the registration process is done successfully.
Documents needed for applying for registration
- PAN card/Identity and Address proof/Current account details/MSME registration details
- In case of Private Limited company The Memorandum of Association/Articles of Association, copy of company’s letterhead and Certificate of incorporation along with 4 passport size photos of the Directors.
- In case of partnership firm the partnership agreement along with 4 passport size photographs of partners.
- In case of sole proprietorship 4 passport size photo of the sole proprietor along with trade or municipal license as the case may be.
